Here's how to upload your photo/video using the Gallery Remote.

1. Open your Gallery Remote program.

2. You need to add your Gallery web address first. Click on Add Gallery URL button. This will bring up the Gallery Remote Preferences window.

3. In the Gallery Remote Preferences window, make sure that URLs option on the left box is selected and then click on the New button.

4. You will need to Enter the Gallery Details and then click the OK button. The details for Icewalker's Photo Gallery is listed below as well as in the graphic below.

Alias. Enter a short name to describe the Multimedia Gallery or leave it empty to use the web address of your gallery. I chose Icewalker for my Gallery since that is it's name.

Username, Password. You will receive your username and password via email from the Admin, that would be James. What you get in the email is what you will need to enter here. Please note that you can change your password via the web interface if you so desire. Just be sure to change it here as well.

Gallery Type. Select Standalone. That is very important!!!

Gallery URL. Enter web address of the Gallery - http://www.icewalker.net/gallery.

Once you have entered the information, click the OK button.

5. Now that you are back at the Gallery Remote Preferences window, you should see the Alias listed. Be sure that it is listed and then click the OK button to close the Gallery Remote Preferences window.

6. Once back in the main Gallery Remote window, select your gallery from the Gallery URL pull-down menu and click on Log in button.

7. If you set up the preferences correctly, you will get a listing of albums on the Gallery. Your Gallery Remote window should look something like the screenshot below. The list of albums that you have rights to will be listed on the left box of Gallery Remote. You will need to find the album that you wish to upload pictures to. This is very important because you don't want to accidentally add photos to the wrong gallery. If you are uploading pictures for Jen and Phillips Wedding Cruise, then you will need to find that Album. Most likely, that album will have subalbums containing different folks pictures.

9. Once you have selected the appropriate album, there are essentially two options available to you, "Add Pictures" or "Fetch Pictures". To prepare for uploading pictures, you need to either click the Add Pictures button and add them that way; or you can "Drag and Drop" the pictures (or movies) into the pictures window.

10. Gallery Remote will allow you to rotate pictures before uploading them to the Gallery. You can also set up some items such as the "Caption" for the picture. The caption default is the name of the file on your computer. This is a perfect time to set that caption before you upload to the web.

11. Once you have added a few photos or pictures, you can also change the order of the photos. When you are done, click the Upload Pictures button.

Reminder: There is one thing that Gallery Remote for certain cannot do; that is the upload from Networked Drives. This means only pictures/videos that reside on your local hard disks can be uploaded.

You should be all set. Keep in mind, there is not a lot you can do to hurt the system. So please, just give it a shot and see what happens! Also, if you are worried about losing the pictures, the Gallery is backed up nightly at 10:00 PM. So any data could be restored if the loss was catastrophic. Enjoy!
